Pinterest has 70 million users worldwide, and we at RIGGS understand why Pinterest has become so popular. It is a great tool for organizing recipes, discovering trends and getting inspired. As much as we love Pinterest and see how helpful it can be in home remodeling projects, it can also be overwhelming for you and your home remodeler. Here are a few tips for using Pinterest for your next home remodel project.
- Narrow down what you like. Pinterest is a great way to help you determine what things you like, but make sure you are consistent. Often times people will show us multiple pictures of rooms that are completely different and say that’s what they want. What is it about each room that you like? There is usually one feature, whether that is a color, a cabinet or a fireplace that is consistent in all the pictures. Determine what it is about each image you like before going into your meeting with your remodeler.
- Be mindful of your budget. You might fall in love with something you see on Pinterest, but it’s important to remember your planned budget. Pinterest can be a dangerous friend when it comes to blowing your budget.
- Be flexible. You might fall in love with a color, a countertop or a specific product that you have seen on Pinterest, but if it is not named in the description, we cannot guarantee we will find the exact same product or it might no longer be available. If you are flexible, we can find a similar product you are sure to love.
- Take time to design. The design processes can be lengthy, but the more time spent on a design will make the project go smoother, stay true to the budget and the timeline go faster. So go ahead, spend time on Pinterest, Houzz or home remodeling websites.
- Be inspired! Pinterest is great for inspiration. We love when clients come to us with ideas and knowing what direction they want to go with their remodel. It’s helpful to create separate boards for different rooms in the house or for specific trends you love.
